IPAF Course List

IPAF (Internation Powered Access Federation) MEWP training is strongly recommended for MEWP operators working in the UK and NI, and may be required on some ROI construction sites. 

Duration

1 day typically from 8.00am to 4.30pm.


What type of MEWPs are covered under IPAF Operator Training?

  • 1B : Static Booms (EWPs that cannot be moved in an elevated state) Eg. Trailer Mount, Van Mount, Spider Lift.
  • 3A: Mobile Vertical (MEWPs that elevate directly upwards) Eg. Scissor Lifts, Vertical Personnel Platforms.
  • 3B: Mobile Boom (MEWPs that rotate & provide outreach) Eg. Articulated & Telescopic Boom Lifts.

Please Note:  Both Mobile Booms & Mobile Verticals may be driven in an Elevated Position (subject to Risk Assessment)

Categories Completed per Training Day

A normal training day would include 2 categories : i.e 3A Mobile Vertical & 3B Mobile Boom

Extra categories
Up to three MEWP categories can be done on the same training day subject to notice and availability of machines eg 3a Mobile Vertical, 3b Mobile Boom and 1b Static Boom

Location
This one day MEWP course on 3a, 3b and 1b IPAF Operator categories is available from any of our training centres: Limerick or Dublin.

On-site training
On-site training on your premises is also available anywhere in Ireland  subject to minimum numbers and having the MEWPs available on site. A suitable room would be required for on-site training for the theory section of the course, and a Mobile Vertical and Mobile Boom would be needed for the practical test. The Operator’s Manual and a copy of the current 6 monthly Certificate of Thorough Examination for each MEWP is required.

Certification
Successful delegates will receive an IPAF PAL Card valid for 5 years and an IPAF Certificate of Training for the categories completed. An IPAF safety guide and an IPAF log book will be given to each delegate on the day of training. Photographs for the operator card are taken on site and included in the price.

Trainee Requirements
Candidates for IPAF MEWP courses must be at least 18 years of age. They must be medically fit to operate machinery.

Course Objectives
To provide delegates with the essential knowledge required to operate various types of MEWPs under three IPAF categories 3a Mobile Vertical, 3b Mobile Boom and 1b Static Boom categories efficiently and safely.
